NUKU'ALOFA (  – The captain of a Tongan ferry which sank last year with the loss of 74 lives was released on bail Thursday after being charged over his role in the disaster, police said.

The doomed Princess Ashika sank on August 5 while travelling from Nuku'alofa, the capital of the South Pacific nation, to an outlying island.
